CANVAS GLICEES

What is a Glicee? (pronounced zhee-klay) A Glicee is created by a professional printer who takes the original painting and does a high resolution digital scan on a professional large scanner. It is digitally adjusted for color correctness to match the originals’ vibrancy and then proofs are submitted to the artist for approval. To create the Glicee, the digital file is printed on a premium canvas with archival quality inks. Glicee’s are of such high quality and accurate production of the original paintings, you will find them in world famous museums and art galleries throughout the world.

I work with a reputable and Glicee professional who uses museum quality Gallery Wrapped and back-stapled canvases with 1-1/2” Profile (depth of sides). The sides are “Mirror-Wrapped” meaning you will see the painting continue onto all sides and any area of the painting not appropriate for “mirroring” will be adjusted for a pleasing view. The deep profile of the canvas is impressive upon the wall and thus requires no framing. You will have the simplicity and beauty of a dimensional piece interesting to look at from all sides! Additionally your signed canvas Glicee will have a black mat-board paper backing with the hanging wire already attached.

Unsure of what size might work for your area? An easy trick is to take newspaper or other brown packing paper and fit together with masking tape and cut to the largest size you are considering. Lightly tape to the wall and see if that size looks good. It should not overpower the furnishings nor should it be dwarfed by the furnishings. It also should not look like a small orphan lingering on the wall!

You’ve heard the saying about not buying art to match the couch. Well, I say buy the art you love to look at and make the couch fit in! That can be done with colorful throw pillows and or a colorful throw over the back. Pick out the prominent color/s of your painting and look for accessories in those color/s. Vibrant paintings look superb up against beige, tan, taupe or white and off-white walls and neutral or black furnishings. They sing when on a complimentary colored, non-neutral colored wall!
